In an October 12 ABC15 news report, Jason Kelly commented on the latest of four reports of mentally ill inmates in the Gila County jail not receiving proper care.

Jason represents the mother of Anthony Lee Stewart, who died on April 21, 2021, after he hanged himself in his cell. Anthony suffered from schizophrenia, and his mother is seeking $1.5 million from Gila County for its failure to provide proper supervision, psychiatric care, and medication.

The notice of claim filed by Jason on behalf of Ms. Stewart alleges that the County’s mistreatment of her son led to his suicide.
